Mac help needed!

Posted by FATSHARK - December 6th, 2010

Hey NG, i've recently aquired a Mac OS X G4 Laptop and it's just not letting me get Flash back onto it, saying it doesn't have the right applications and stuff...

Any other users got any advice for a novice Mac user on getting Flash and other programs to start working?

Comments

Is the flash your trying to put onto it on a CD? or maybe for windows.

1: Buy a PC
2: Make sure you performed #1
3: Double check

you could have deleted something you can check your filees or you have to get flash back by re-downloading it

1. It's too late.
2. Mac/Apple sux on computers.
3. Go to the forums.
4. Why are you still here?

it almost sounds like you're trying to open an .fla without flash even installed. you really need to explain you're situation better.

p.s. if any of you other queers wanna jump in with your PC IS BETTER DURRRR comment, take your little weak fingers off your pc keyboard and go waste your time elsewhere ITS A TIRED ARGUMENT.

Oh hey it's JohnnyUtah in mah news post.

Basically i download the legit trial from the official website blah blah then after downloading it tells me that it is an application, so i'm like, great lets applicate...

I then find the new file, lets say "Flash8" at the desktop and akin to my old PC i double click, it then tells me that i do not have the correct application to install the file.

I've heard that a program called Wine would allow me to double click and install programs as if it were a Windows OS but its a severely complicated program to install on a Mac so im pretty much flashless and photoshopless until i can either learn to install Wine correctly or find another way to get them to be allowed..

...Wait... What? You installed a free trial of Flash, and yet you're trying to install a file called "Flash8"? Either you're doing it wrong, I don't have a single clue of what you're saying.

Also, if you don't know how to use Wine, you could also try a Mac program called Crossover. I used it to install Windows version of Flash 8 on Mac when I was still saving up for Flash CS4. I'm frequently using both Wine and Crossover, but Crossover is easier to use.

I said flash8 in place of the actual file name, as in an example.

I'll check out crossover nd see if it can help me out.

thanks.

Get a program called Crossover, it's primitive to me, but it does the job.
I think it costs a couple dollars and some change. But it's worth the buy.

OH DAMN IT. SHADOW STOLE MY SHIT.

Do yourself a favor and get a PC laptop to replace that Mac. PC is significantly better than Mac.

I'D SAY to buy a diffrent laptop!
